charlotte holt is an artist from halifax, west yorkshire, currently based in manchester, UK. her studio is based in DMZ studios, ancoats.

she
explores the tactile relationship that viewers and makers have towards materiality, colour and playfulness through art. she does this through different multi-sensory elements; often inviting the viewer to interact with the work through touch or smell. soft saccharine tones clash with the touch of harsh surfaces, sweet smells engage with confessional words in a sickly but inquisitive attraction. the work investigates the world of juxtapositions; an idea that the viewer can feel and experience opposite feelings at once. charlotte brings trivial childishness, often fun on the surface but with a serious undertone. the words that are used in the work, whether this be through the naming or apart of the piece, come from the artist’s poetry. they are confessional and sometimes exposing, giving the work a relatable personality and an understanding of the conditions of being human.
